IntelliCorp Ships NetProcess™ Infrastructure Software

Business Process Management Leader Delivers Industry’s First Web-Based Infrastructure Software for End-to-End Business Process Capture, Documentation, Monitoring, Analysis, Control and Optimization

Mountain View, Calif. - January 17, 2001 - IntelliCorp, Inc. [NASDAQ: INAI], a leading provider of eBusiness and eCRM solutions, today announced the shipment of its NetProcess infrastructure software for end-to-end business process capture, documentation, monitoring, analysis, control and optimization.

NetProcess is the industry’s first fully web-based software system that serves as an infrastructure backbone for applying business process management both to specific, mission critical projects and to ongoing operations. It is the ideal solution for traditional brick and mortar companies who must eEnable front office and back office operations, particularly in the B2B context. NetProcess also addresses the critical need for demand chain optimization to increase revenue, improve customer satisfaction, coordinate multiple channels and streamline sell-side operations.

Front and Back Office eEnablement
With predictions of B2B commerce reaching $5.7T by 2004 (AMR Research, B2B Commerce Forecast), traditional brick and mortar companies are faced with the overwhelming task of eEnabling existing processes in the context of a more challenging economic environment.

In order to effectively eEnable the enterprise, organizations must engage in a wide variety of lifecycle activities with respect to both existing back office ERP systems, and newer front office applications. These include, among other activities, new application implementation, upgrade, consolidation, synchronization, integration and optimization. Reducing cost, time and complexity, NetProcess acts as a key enabler for these initiatives by providing the necessary infrastructure for complete business process access and control.

According to Eric Austvold of AMR, Enabling Technologies Alert for January 17, 2001, "As multinational organizations implement new eBusiness software, business process changes are inevitable. Business process improvement imperatives like shortened product cycles, faster customer responsiveness and less costly procurement procedures drive the changes in enterprise software. NetProcess promises to map out an organization's business processes so that the organization can realize their process improvement objectives. With NetProcess, IntelliCorp appears to be on the right track in helping companies achieve their business process improvement objectives."

Demand Chain Optimization
NetProcess also provides a powerful vehicle for organizations to optimize their demand chains, both on a project-specific and on an ongoing basis. The new infrastructure from IntelliCorp supports the documentation of end-to-end processes, and fosters internal collaboration between business units and divisions as well as external collaboration with partners, suppliers and buyers and exchanges. Through the use of NetProcess, organizations will reap the benefits of demand chain optimization:
  • Across direct and indirect channels
  • Across sell-side applications
  • Between sell-side applications and the ERP back office
  • Between sell-side and supply chain operations
Integrated into IntelliCorp’s successful CRM and Demand Chain Optimization consulting solutions, IntelliCorp consultants will also use NetProcess to speed integration of eBusiness and CRM functionality throughout the entire demand chain.

For SAP R/3, mySAP.com and Beyond
Initially designed for companies who are running SAP™ R/3® and/or mySAP.com in the back office, the NetProcess infrastructure software contains detailed R/3 process information. Through the use of a unique business definition layer, NetProcess can be further extended to additional front office, supply chain and procurement applications. This functionality opens up additional partnering opportunities for IntelliCorp and its customers.

Features and Benefits
NetProcess reduces cost, time and complexity by enabling organizations to:
    Utilize standard Internet technology
  • Capture processes currently in-use
  • Document processes as a business blueprint
  • Monitor changes to processes over time
  • Analyze existing business processes currently in use against corporate baselines and industry standards
  • Control business processes through publication and collaboration via the Internet or corporate intranet
  • Optimize both supply and demand chains
NetProcess can be deployed at the customer site or as part of IntelliCorp’s myProcesses.com™ online ASP offering. NetProcess is also available as part of three distinct service offerings for evaluating existing R/3 systems, consolidating and synchronizing R/3 systems, and eEnablement.

Initial Customer Response
According to Ray Moreau, IntelliCorp President, "Early adopters have told us that NetProcess provides ease of access, an intuitive graphical user interface, along with outstanding functionality. We are hearing that it has enabled our users to gain control and effectively monitor their business processes, ensuring that their operations are streamlined and optimized."

Ray Moreau concluded, "Based on what we’ve seen in the market and what we’ve heard from our customers, NetProcess takes business process modeling to a whole new level."
