Mountain View, Calif. - May 19, 2003 - IntelliCorp, a global solutions firm utilizing technology to optimize enterprise business processes, today announced that it has developed the only available reference model for SAP R/3 Enterprise Edition.
The R/3 Enterprise reference model provides the foundation for understanding how SAP's software is structured to support business processes. The combination of the reference model and IntelliCorp's NetProcess software provides an effective means to connect business objectives with IT solutions. Using the unique technology of NetProcess, customers can analyze their existing implementation in the context of SAP’s latest release, R/3 Enterprise Edition. This offers significant value in understanding business upgrade opportunities and accelerating technical implementations.
The model consists of a detailed reference tree and flow diagrams providing interactive and graphical representations of the more than 80,000 transactions contained in R/3 Enterprise, including the 20,000 new transactions added since version 4.6c. It gives IT and functional managers a visual understanding of SAP R/3's structure and business processes. The reference model jumpstarts the blueprint phase for organizations that are planning new deployments or upgrading to R/3 Enterprise, and continues to provide on-going benefits throughout the project lifecycle.
"IntelliCorp's long history of working with SAP provided us with the experience needed to create the R/3 Enterprise reference model," said Chris Trueman, chief development officer for IntelliCorp. "With the reference model and IntelliCorp’s NetProcess, new and existing customers now have the roadmap and the vehicle to reach SAP Enterprise."
From version 3.1 through 4.6, SAP provided the content needed to build the reference model. That content was then ported into IntelliCorp’s diagram explorer and solution map composer technologies to create the reference model. With the introduction of Enterprise, SAP chose not to port that content. To fill the void, IntelliCorp and its key customers internally developed an accurate content map of the functionality and transactions contained in Enterprise. IntelliCorp used that data, along with its SAP specific technologies and understanding of industry best practices, to create the reference model.
