IntelliCorp Upgrade Solution Reduces SAP™ R/3™ Upgrade Costs by up to 40%

New Solution Targeted at the 20-30% of SAP User Base That Must Upgrade in 2000

Mountain View, Calif. - June 6, 2000 - IntelliCorp, a leading provider of eBusiness and CRM solutions for the SAP community, today announced the IntelliCorp Upgrade Solution, a complete solution for upgrading SAP R/3. Consisting of people, processes and technology, the new solution significantly reduces implementation time and cost for SAP R/3 upgrades, paving the way for implementation of CRM and eBusiness solutions from both SAP and IntelliCorp.

"IntelliCorp's Upgrade Solution for R/3 clearly makes sense," said Tyler McDaniel of Hurwitz Group. "SAP users will have to upgrade if they want to move to eBusiness. IntelliCorp has a proven set of products and skills that can reduce the efforts and costs involved, giving users a viable way to move forward."

Companies using older versions of R/3 must upgrade in order to remain on SAP support and maintenance, streamline processes to increase sales, and remove custom and ABAP code that is expensive to maintain. In addition, only the latest version of R/3, version 4.6, supports mySAP.com and SAP’s CRM and eBusiness functionality.

According to AMR Research, March 2000, "An estimated 20% of SAP's Fortune 2000 global companies, and an estimated 30% of small and midsize businesses, will begin upgrading this year. Most are coming from a 3.x platform, and the resources required for an upgrade are substantial."

Based on a detailed ROI model, IntelliCorp has found that it can reduce upgrade implementation time and cost by up to 40%. The IntelliCorp Upgrade Solution differs significantly from that of other consulting firms due to the use of internally-developed tools that leverage the ASAP Question & Answer Database™, and the SAP Reverse Business Engineer™.

Using IntelliCorp’s LiveModel, LiveCapture, and WebExpress technology, the solution rapidly reverse-engineers blueprints of business processes currently in use. This blueprint becomes the foundation for planning and execution of the upgrade project, ensuring that all staff involved have immediate access to key business process definitions.

Using IntelliCorp’s LiveSynchronizer, the solution significantly reduces the effort necessary to evaluate existing R/3 functionality and capabilities in the target R/3 system, including the comparison of ABAP code, data structures, user interfaces and interfaces with legacy and 3rd party solutions.

AMR continues, "Customers need to consider many aspects of the upgrade planning process. Options range from a straightforward technical upgrade to a more complex path designed to streamline process, remove custom and ABAP code, create a long-term reporting and business intelligence strategy, and implement additional functionality. The bottom line: if you are an SAP customer of moderate complexity with at least 1,000 users, and you use SAP software for full financial, sales, inventory, logistics, and manufacturing, you will spend about $4.5M on internal and external costs to upgrade R/3."

Tony Lacy-Thompson, VP Worldwide Marketing, IntelliCorp concludes, "Although the advantages of upgrading – available maintenance, and support for CRM and eBusiness – are clear, the effort and cost involved often appear to outweigh those advantages." He added, "By reducing the effort and cost, and greatly improving the chances of success, IntelliCorp’s Upgrade Solution makes it much easier for companies to justify the move."
